Invoices & tax

Purchases are processed by Stripe as merchant of record: Stripe issues the receipt, calculates and remits VAT/sales tax for your country, and can include your company name and VAT number at checkout — so the paperwork your finance team needs comes from a counterparty they already know. Deployment

• Install — a signed, notarized DMG; drag to Applications. No agents, no background services, no admin console to run.
• Activation — each computer enters the licence key once (Settings → General → Manage LicenseSettings → License). Keys are verified against our licensing service with cryptographically signed responses. A licence is only ever withdrawn when the service explicitly reports it invalid — being offline, a server error, or our licensing service ceasing to exist are all forgiven indefinitely, so laptops that travel and machines behind a strict firewall keep working.
• CLI — the milldown command installs from the app menu with full option parity, for scripted and CI use.
• MDM — no MDM-specific packaging yet; the app is a standard notarized bundle and deploys like any drag-install Mac software. If your fleet needs more, tell us what — this is exactly the feedback that sets the roadmap.

Security review, pre-answered

• Documents never leave the device in local conversion — no accounts, no telemetry, no crash reporting. The complete network surface (three request kinds, none carrying file content) is documented on the security page.
• The two cloud exceptions are opt-in — Azure Document Intelligence and Content Understanding, off by default and clearly labelled. When they're off, no document leaves the machine, because there is no other code path that sends one.
• Every marketing number is documented — named sources, stated baselines, one named tokenizer, and per-file results on the benchmarks page, including the formats where we claim no saving at all.
• Data protection — the app processes documents in memory on the user's computer; there is nothing server-side to sign a DPA about for local conversion. The privacy policy covers the little data that does exist (order records, support email).

Support

Team licences get priority support — a human, usually within a business day, from the people who built the app. Use the contact form and mention your order number. Security reports go through the security policy.
